In December First Colour achieved the coveted Quality Management System ISO9001 accreditation as well as the Environmental Management Standard ISO14001. In the UK less than 10% of printers have both accreditations.

The ISO 9001 system aims to recognise and promote high standards of Company management and is a standard that is recognised around the world as the symbol of a well run and responsible company.
The process for ISO9001 required First Colour to :-

• Establish a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business;

• Put in place a monitoring processes to ensure they are effective;

• Checking all of our output for any kind of defect, with immediate corrective action where necessary;

• Regularly review the individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness; and facilitate continual improvement

The ISO14001 enviromental management is about quantifying and controlling how Companies such as ours impact on the environment and along the way ensuring that we comply in every way with applicable laws and regulations.

To achieve this aim we were required to :-

• Produce an environmental policy that was specific to the First Colour operation

• Quantify the impact of supplying our products and services on the local environment

• Create our own environmental objectives specific to First Colour

• Provide an ongoing improvement programme that will continue to reflect First Colour’s genuine concern for the environment and what seems to be happening to our World

Last Years Milestones……………

First Colour continued to make great progress in 2008 despite the current economic woes.

Jan 2008 – First Colour acquired a further 3000 sq ft at its W1 – Newman St – print centre

June 2008 - A new five colour Heidelberg press was acquired and installed in the printroom in W1 to work alongside the existing two other Heidelberg presses. The installation included a ‘chemical free’ plate maker which along with our use of vegetable based inks supplied by Heidelberg makes our press room one of the cleanest in London and helped significantly in gaining the environmental ISO14001.

December 2008 – Awarded both ISO9001 - Quality Management and ISO140001 - Environmental Management.

December 2008 – Upgrade of our colour digital print operation with the purchase of two Xerox ‘high end’ digital printers. These new digital presses give us much better quality at a faster speed helping us to cope with those ever decreasing deadlines
